Free Tickets! Sons of Bill / Frontier Ruckus at the Tractor Tavern Sun. July 5th

Love&Logicby Sean Jewell ::

Charlottesville‘s Sons of Bill return to Seattle still flying high on their 2014 release Love and Logic, a record with Virginia roots, fleshed out by champion of Americana producer Ken Coomer (Wilco). Love and Logic somehow managed to blend roots music’s multi stringed attack with the upward inflection of psychedelic rock. Immediately into their record Sons of Bill established a willingness to expand under Coomer’s guidance, maintaining their stance with clever turns of phrase while building a wall of sound on every track. In turn Coomer wisely maintained the humid, heavy tones Sons of Bill came up making. There’s front porch southern summertime country, harmonies and clear acoustic standing out in front of sustained slide guitar, silence where applicable, and drums like thunder as well.

The Sons of Bill in the band are three brothers, who share singing duties and lift the bulk of the weight, as accomplished writers and world class musicians. Expect sophisticated southern gothic that dips into psychedelia, with intricate and ornate roots.

Michigan’s Frontier Ruckus supports with modern folk epics, plucky strings, and triumphant interjections from synthesizers and horns.
