Dean Johnson “Faraway Skies” on 50 Feet of Song

50 Feet of Song is absolutely one of the coolest ideas in the video medium right now. The creators use super 8 film to make 3 minute videos (which uses approximately 50 feet of film). Check out their production of Dean Johnson‘s “Faraway Skies,” a gorgeous song made even better by the ‘60s style, field-recording treatment. Not only that, but right now there’s a great feature on their site about Portland recording company Mama Bird, who brought us great albums by Widower, Barna Howard, Vikesh Kapoor, and Denver. Get over to the 50 Feet of Song website, youtube, and vimeo channels to stay up to date on the great acts they’re capturing with this method.

Great, right? Dean Johnson plays with Widower, and Edmund Wayne in Seattle at the Sunset on February 23rd. See you all there.
