East Dallas is back! The Warden released his new single “Downtown” last week. It’s laden heavy with tejano beat, and that special storytelling style we’ve been getting out of them. Where his last album was one he, shall we say, sang from the barstool, on his latest he appears to be upright and reflective. Sober, even. That doesn’t stop the onslaught of influence that makes his music great. That special spot in East Texas where the South meets the Southwest that gave us the like of Doug Sahm, Ry Cooder, Flaco Jimenez, Texas Tornadoes, and The Mavericks is here. All The Warden has to do is get it down on record, and we’re ready to listen.
